The high flexibility, few costly inventory admendments and little space demand per animal makes the ESF-system is a very efficient and competitive system for housing of pregnant sows. There is however, very little knowledge on the animal related effects of implementing the system. This project aims to investigate such potential effects, in order to recommend best practise when housing animals in this particular system. This will help ensure better competitiveness of the production as well as sustain good welfare of the animals housed in the system.
The project starts in December 2018 and is lead by Dr. Anne-Charlotte Olsson, e-mail: Anne-Charlotte.firstname.lastname@example.org.
